PM: Cambodia May Be Poor, But We Do Not Allow People to Die

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has assured the public that there will be no shortage of Covid-19 vaccines, because even if Cambodia may be poor, the government will not allow people to die.

Speaking at a meeting with the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA) on Tuesday morning (17 May 2022), Prime Minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia still has nearly 10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines left, while some friendly countries have promised to send more later. The Prime Minister ensured that there is no shortage of vaccines for the people and that vaccination in Cambodia is free of charge.

He added that of the more than 28 million Covid-19 vaccines provided to the public, more than half was purchased by Cambodia.

"Cambodia has the capacity to provide 28 million [doses] to its people, a larger share than the aid provided by other countries," he said.

So far, Cambodia has received and purchased more than 52 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
