PM Returns Home from ASEAN-US Summit in Washington DC

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has returned to Phnom Penh after leaving Washington DC, USA, on 14 May yesterday from a successful ASEAN-US Summit.

The Cambodian government’s special plane brought the Prime Minister and the delegation to Phnom Penh International Airport at around 7:50 this evening of 15 May.

According to the itinerary, the special plane of the Royal Government of Cambodia was supposed to arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport at 4 pm, but due to unfavorable weather conditions from Alaska, USA to Seoul, Korea, the flight was delayed.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Cambodian delegation left the Kingdom of Cambodia for Washington DC on 11 May 2022, to participate and co-chair the ASEAN-US Summit 2022 for the first time since 2017.

ASEAN, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen in 2022, met with the US President which achieved great results; all of which will boost cooperation, strengthen ASEAN-US relations to another level, as well as maintain stability in the region. On the night of May 14, the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that ASEAN and the United States have reached a joint declaration of 28 points.
