PM Calls on Families to Be Attentive About Educating Family Members on Morals and Good Traditions

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has called on all Cambodian families and community members to continue strengthening the spirit of good solidarity and focus on educating family members on morals and good traditions, with a good conscience.

In a message released by the Prime Minister for the 28th Anniversary of International Family Day 2022, which will be held under the theme "Family is the foundation of maintaining and protecting peace", the Prime Minister said that each family and community is responsible for providing family members with education on morals, ethics, general knowledge and other professional skills to strengthen and develop the capacity of human resources in the family with "dignity and efficiency" to ensure that the family remains a social cell for prosperity and happiness.

The Prime Minister’s message also said that the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) must continue to promote the implementation of the National Social Protection Policy 2016-2025 by strengthening and expanding social welfare services for the poor and vulnerable. He said MoSVY should also cooperate with the Ministry of Information and the media to conduct roundtables discussions on the theme of International Family Day 2022, and produce educational videos to be broadcast on television stations, cinemas and other public places.

He further added that the National Social Assistance Fund must continue to develop various policies to provide social protection interventions, including social assistance, to the general population, especially victims and vulnerable people, in order to improve the quality of life and build a participatory quality of life without discrimination.

Additionally, the Prime Minister has called on development partners, both national and international NGOs, to be more active in supporting the activities of family development programs, and to allocate both more budget and human resources to ensure the promotion of family strength in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The 28th International Family Day 2022 will be held under the theme "Family is the foundation of maintaining and protecting peace," indicating the importance of the family as a social unit, and its role in providing experience and basic knowledge to family members, as well as promoting economic, social and cultural development, maintaining peace, social balance and national stability, and promoting the implementation of laws, policies and standards, according to the National Social Protection Policy Framework 2016-2025.
