National Primary School’s Launched Athletics Competition

PHNOM PENH: National Primary School Athletics Competition was officially opened on the morning of May 4, 2022 at the National Olympic Stadium.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, HE Sam Heng Boros, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and President of the Khmer Volunteer Athletics Federation, emphasized that the national primary school athletics competition is very important to train and recruit children after Suspended for two years due to the covid-19 crisis.

"I would like to thank the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for organizing this competition and I am very happy to see children from 25 capitals and provinces participating in athletics competitions, as we have nurtured them to love from an early age.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports provide accommodation, boarding, and food for this year's national event, Samheng Boros added that this is an important issue in providing nutrition for children, which is the focus of the Minister.

“We know that competition training requires physical fitness through this supplement as well. Ms. Heng Michou, Acting Secretary General of the Khmer Federation of Volunteer Athletics, stated that this national primary school sports competition was organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports with the technical cooperation of the Khmer Federation of Volunteer Athletes in order to encourage students and parents guardians of the public, coaches, assistant coaches and athletes are confident, supportive and actively involved with the Royal Government in making sports, especially athletics more developed to a faster level.

The former outstanding Cambodian national athlete added that the 2022 National Primary School Sports Competition will be held from April 29 to May 8, 2022 under the slogan "Sports for Peace and Fun with 8 sports, including athletics from May 4-7, 2022 with a total of 200 male and female athletes.

The national primary school athletics competition has 9 different track and field competitions. Including boys 60 meters sprint, girl’s 60 meter sprint, boys' 800 meters sprint, girls' 800 meters sprint, boys' long jump, boys' and girls' high jumps, and mixed children's athletics.
