PM Warns to Release the Messages of 5 Tycoons Who Intervened in the Arrest of Mean Pichrita in 2021

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen warns he will release the chat messages between the five tycoons who were involved in the abuse case of student Mean Pichrita by tycoon Heng Sear in May 2021. The Prime Minister stated that the intervention of those rich people was an injustice that he could not stand by and watch.

Speaking at a meeting with grade A students on Tuesday morning (3 May, 2022), the Prime Minister recalled the abuse case of student Mean Pichrita and stated that the five tycoons, including tycoon Heng Sear’s children and son-in-law, the police and even the court were in connection to the case of injustice.

The Prime Minister said, “Does the Prime Minister have to intervene immediately? While a student is being held in prison under the influence of five tycoons. If I researched this story at that time, Neth Savoeun (National Police Chief) would have to work, because the police officers received the tycoon's complaint and arrested her, it would be a surprise at the court if I made this a big story."

The Prime Minister added that in this case, the son-in-law of Heng Sear created a lot of false evidence and tried to bribe the Prime Minister’s lawyer.

The Prime Minister said, "The son-in-law of the tycoon went to buy (bribe) even my lawyer! My lawyer reported to me that (the son-in-law of the tycoon) said the Prime Minister was on the side of the tycoon. (The five) tycoons sent all the voicemail messages to discuss with each other. Finally, I had to ask my lawyer to guarantee that the female student would be let out of prison. Then, because all the journalists were silenced, I ordered the arrest of the tycoon's son-in-law, and in his son-in-law's phone, it was full of pornographic pictures that were edited, to show the student in bed with the tycoon."

The Prime Minister said that not reacting to such injustices is "inhumane,” and he warned to release the correspondence between the five tycoons and the family of Heng Sear.

"How much do you know in this story? I protect my people, why should I not get involved in this case, if you are inhumane, you do not invite me to also be inhumane. You think by yourself! Some people do not understand that, you think this is a trivial matter, but look at the case. I suggest that those who want to see the details of the case to meet with Chhay Sinarith, Deputy Commissioner of the National Police, or contact my lawyer,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.

He further added, "Sorry to those tycoons, but I have to say this because in this case, probably, those tycoons want someone else to talk about it. If you want, I will show it all on TV! And I will use the voice messages between those tycoons to see if such a case should require the Prime Minister to pay attention or not."

"People's interests" are not a small issue, he said.

The case between tycoon Heng Sear and Mean Pichrita occurred in May 2021, when the tycoon Heng Sear accused Mean Pichrita of "aggravated theft" and got her arrested. Mean Pichrita denied the allegations and accused Heng Sear of attempting to rape her and filed a lawsuit against him. The words that moved the masses and sought justice for Mean Pichrita at that time were, "They touched me, they arrested me, I hated myself!"
