British PM Johnson Visits Bury FC As Government Is Set To Establish Independent Soccer Regulator

INTERNATIONAL: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson showed off his soccer talents during a visit to Bury Football Club in Manchester on Monday 25th April.

He also tried his hand at painting over the goal line at the club’s grounds in northwest England.

In honour of his visit, the prime minister was presented with a soccer shirt with his name and the number 10 on the back.

His visit comes as the British government is set to establish an independent regulator in English soccer to deal with the game's finances, club ownership and corporate governance.

The regulator will be backed by primary legislation to provide it with the statutory powers to license and sanction clubs, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) said on Monday.
