PM: Athletes Must Fly a Special Plane Directly to Hanoi to Raise the Country's Image in Sports

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered the Cambodian Olympic Committee to contact the airline in Cambodia to arrange a plane that will fly directly to Hanoi, Vietnam without a layover, for athletes set to compete at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, in order to raise the country's image in sports.

The Prime Minister made this order during a meeting to make recommendations to athletes before they depart to the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.

According to the previous plan, the Olympic Committee had planned to arrange plane tickets to Hanoi, Vietnam for the athletes, but before arriving in Hanoi, the athletes would have a layover in Ho Chi Minh City. Prime Minister Hun Sen has conversely advised the committee to use a special plane that will fly directly to Hanoi instead.

Vietnam is hosting the SEA Games for the second time. It is the largest sporting event in the region. The 31st SEA Games will be held from 12-23 May 2022 in Hanoi and 11 neighboring provinces.
