Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Ticket Will Cost US $12 Per Trip in First Year

SIHANOUKVILLE: The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, has said that after holding discussions with representatives of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway construction company, the parties have decided that tickets to use the expressway will cost US $12 per trip for regular cars in the first year of the road being opened up to the public.

The Senior Minister added, "If you go and come back for $24, the company will reduce the price for the first year. […] For highways, the cost of traveling on this road is 10 cents per kilometer, so the normal price is about $19.”

It should be noted that the price of $12 per one way ticket is for small, individual or family-owned cars, while the price of the ticket for large vehicles owned by companies has not yet been set.

The project to build the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway has been 90.95% complete as of 22 April 2022. The road will be ready for trial use in July 2022, and officially inaugurated at a later date by Prime Minister Hun Sen.
