Cambodian Embassy in Korea Declares No Support for Riots Caused by a Small Group of Individuals

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian Embassy in the Republic of Korea issued a statement disapproving of the actions and activities of a small group of individuals who caused injuries and unrest in a basement shop in Suwon, South Korea, during a public celebration of the traditional Khmer New Year on Sunday, 24 April.

According to the announcement issued on Monday, 25 April, by the Cambodian Embassy in the Republic of Korea, the aforementioned acts of violence have undermined social order, reflected a loss of morality in life, a violation of human rights, a lack of solidarity between Cambodians, which has seriously damaged the reputation of Cambodia.

The Embassy also appealed to all Cambodians living, studying and working in the Republic of Korea to be united, to love and respect each other as fellow Cambodians, to maintain social order, to respect rights and know how to help each other, consistently valuing the beauty of Khmer tradition and culture.
