BREAKING NEWS: The Prime Minister to Launch a Campaign of “3 Doses of Vaccine per Citizen”

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen urged the Ministry of Health and relevant departments to launch the third vaccination campaign for vulnerable people and encourage people to participate in this campaign. He said, "Each citizen should receive at least a third dose of the vaccine."

In a special audio message on the afternoon of 24 April 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that after Khmer New Year, the number of people infected with Covid-19 is not worrisome. However, the Prime Minister urged people to get the third dose of the vaccine to strengthen the community's immune system, which could lead to the end of “mask-wearing" or relaxing some health measures.

The Prime Minister announced the launch of the campaign "3 Doses of Vaccine per Citizen" by having the Ministry of Health and the relevant departments to work together in this campaign. The main focus is on factory workers, informal economic workers, vulnerable people to disease, and students; the campaign will go directly to their locations.

The Prime Minister confirmed that those who did not have time to get vaccinated can also get the vaccination.

The Prime Minister said: "Therefore, please, my compatriots, volunteer to participate in the vaccination campaign. Those who need to be vaccinated, I have instructed Dr. Or Vandine on the implementation of vaccination measures; even if not enough time has passed, we can vaccinate to utilize as much as possible on what we have in hand to strengthen the community's resilience and to facilitate full opening [of the country] without backsliding."

The Prime Minister has ordered the Ministry of Health and all relevant departments to implement this campaign by organizing the right forces to vaccinate the people.

He said, "I wish all of you, my compatriots, success in this third dose vaccination campaign, in which all Cambodians must have at least three doses of the vaccine to prevent this deadly disease."

Since Cambodia launched the vaccination campaign on 10 February-23 April 2022, approximately 14.1 million Cambodians have received the basic 2 doses of the vaccine while there are just over 8.2 million people got their third dose.
