PM Departs to Attend 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Japan

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen left Cambodia on Friday morning (22 April 2022) to attend the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Japan.

The special plane of the Kingdom of Cambodia departed from Phnom Penh International Airport at around 7:30 AM on Friday morning. The Prime Minister is set to return to Cambodia on Sunday, 24 April.

The 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit will be held in Kumamoto, Japan, under the theme "Water for Sustainable Development–Best Practices and the Next Generation" from 23-24 April. The purpose of this meeting is to share ideas, visions, solutions, and implementation methods with Heads of State and representatives from international organizations who support policy decisions to accelerate activities related to achieving quality growth towards an environmentally resilient and sustainable society. Attendees will discuss how to tackle all water-related issues following the Covid-19 pandemic, and will assess what has improved in the Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting also aims to foster further collaboration and partnerships utilizing quality infrastructure to support quality growth.

The 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit (4th APWS) will also share with the world the long-standing efforts made by the host city, Kumamoto, in conserving groundwater, as well as its recovery efforts from the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes.
