Ministry Of Labor Urges All Factories To Cooperate In Vaccinating Booster Doses For Workers

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has reminded all factory owners to cooperate "urgently" with the local authorities of the Capital and Provinces and the Department of Labor and Vocational Training of the Capital and Provinces to prepare booster vaccine to encourage workers in factories.

In a statement issued on 20 April 2022, the Minister of Labor, Ith Sam Heng stated that the vaccination arrangement at all factories is to continue to fight and prevent the spread of the new mutant Omicron virus, especially in the Enterprise factories. The Minister also instructed the owners or directors of the factories to manage the workers' vaccination data and fill in the vaccination information in the Automated Labor Inspection website at www.sicm.mlvt.gov.kh

In case the worker does not have a Covid-19 vaccination card, please fill it in English and vaccination date according to the form specified in the system above.

The president of National Trade Union Coalition, Fa Sali told EAC News that he supported the government's move now because it is a consideration for workers after the New Year.

He said: "It's the best thing after this New Year, we are also concerned about the spread of Covid-19, we see that the Royal Government has recently issued instructions to vaccinate in factories to build a stronger community immune system in a timely manner, this is a good preventive measure with vaccines received from friendly countries."

On 21st April 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen ordered the Minister of Labor, Ith Sam Heng to work with the relevant authorities to establish a factory vaccination campaign to strengthen the community immune system. He asked Minister Ith Sam Heng to organize a vaccination campaign at the factory, allowing workers to take a day off during the vaccination.

He said: "His Excellency Ith Sam Heng must do this job well, cooperate with factories to do this job well, inject our workers to get good protection, which can avoid the risk of infection."
