PM urges people to be careful on the occasion of New Year

Sihanoukville: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, sent a message Happy the Khmer New Year with the people of Cambodia, which urged people to be aware of Covid-19 and traffic accidents.

In a special message on the second day of the Khmer new year, Prime Minister said that after failing to celebrate for two years. This year, Cambodia has re-organized the Khmer New Year, which the he observed that the people are participating and happy with the celebration, prime minister reminded about the problem of Covid-19 and traffic accidents for the people to be careful.

As the government has increased the number of vaccination sites at resorts and pagodas during the New Year, prime minister has urged people when returning to their hometowns to be vaccinated as much as possible.

"For the booster dose for our people to be immune to ensure that after the Khmer New Year many people receive booster dose already" he said.

In addition, the Prime Minister urged people who are suspected of being infected with Covid-19 to do rapid test by themselves to know their health status and easily prevent transmission to others.

At the same time, he also called on people to respect traffic laws and be caution to avoid traffic accidents that may occur during Khmer New Year.

"Before Khmer new year and during the new year, we see that there are less than 20 people who have been infected with Covid-19, but for traffic accidents, there are a lot of people who have died," he said.

The Prime Minister ordered the authorities at all levels to increase vigilance and maintain order for the people on the occasion of the New Year.

At the same time, He also thanked the monks, authorities and all citizens who participated in maintaining security and order, that all this participation will make the Khmer New Year safe.
