Cambodia Hosts Southeast Asian Games Federation Council Meeting

PHNOM PENH: The three-day meeting from 8-10 April 2022, hosted by Cambodia was a good meeting of the Council of the Southeast Asian Games Federation, which was the first meeting of the host of Cambodia for the preparation process of the 2023 SEA Games - ASEAN Para Games for the first time in history.

His Excellency Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Organizing Committee of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023 emphasized after the meeting of the Council of the Southeast Asian Games Federation held in Siem Reap, that the meeting of the Federation of Southeast Asian Games under the chairmanship of Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Ministry of National Defense and the Chairman of the National Organizing Committee for the 2023 SEA Games and His Excellency Thong Khon, as the Co-Chairs of the Council of Southeast Asian Games, warmly and deeply welcomed the organization of the meeting.

HE Vath Chamroeun emphasized that "DPM Tea Banh clarified some of the work that Cambodia requested all countries that are members of the Council of Southeast Asia to tolerate Cambodia as the first host if there is a shortage of the organization preparation, DPM Tea Banh has already made recommendations and suggestions on the main points to promote the successful organization of the SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games 2023.”

He continues: “At the Southeast Asian Sports Advisory Meeting, chaired by HE Thong Khon, we have received a lot of support, and the members of Southeast Asia, both in person and online praised the Cambodian leadership. ”Cambodia has conducted this meeting more smoothly than the previous meetings, in order and with clear rules, especially during this three-day meeting. Cambodia has an expertise committee in attendance, the Women’s and Sports Commission, represented by Ms.Prak Samphors, chaired the meeting for women's equality in sports.

Particular attention was paid to women in organizing the SEA Games in Cambodia, With Sok Saroeun, Chairman of the Medical and Doping Committees, organizing a meeting with all the members from the countries of Southeast Asia by putting a clear plan in to place. Because this is a main point in organizing the SEA Games, focusing on safety and combating the use of banned substances in the sport of "doping". "We have personally led the meeting on sports regulations, medicine and women together to achieve satisfactory results."

As for the agenda that we have achieved as the host of the 2023 SEA Games, it is the adoption of 39 sports that all member countries have no objection or misunderstanding of the sports that Cambodia has put in place. Even Cambodia's traditional sports such as bokator, Khmer martial arts and chess, no one questioned it. All of this means that Cambodia has been honored as the first host. "Under the leadership of HE Thong Khon, in this Board Meeting, we received congratulatory messages from all countries. They praised Cambodia for its well-organized and well-organized hospitality, which is the success of Cambodia. After the 32nd SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia is Thailand hosting the 33rd SEA Games, but after Thailand is still unclear who will host the SEA Games, We are all waiting for the results after the meeting in Vietnam.

HE Vath Chamroeun added that the second meeting of the Southeast Asian Sports Council is scheduled to be held in Phnom Penh in June 2022, as Vietnam will host the SEA Games in May 2022. By the end of the Vietnam Summit, we will be the sole President of the Southeast Asian Games Council, as Vietnam will hand over the flag to the host Cambodia on 23 May 2022 at the official closing ceremony. "We will work with autonomy and independence in leadership from June 2022 onwards. We will hold the last meeting because there are still some sports that are reserved sports, so the sports that we reserve will be finalized when Cambodia chairs the council in June 2022.
