Asian Qualifiers - Group C: Bahrain cruise past Cambodia to seize top spot

Cambodia has lost its last hopes of passing the Asian Qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World’s Cup.

The national football team has been hit hard by Bahrain yesterday, with a final score of 8-0.

The defeat means Cambodia remains on one point after six matches and in last position in Group C, which also includes Hong Kong, Iraq, Iran and Bahrain, with the latter in pole position with 12 points after 6 matches played.

Cambodia will face Iraq on June 7 in the attempt to not finish the qualifiers at the bottom.

It’s not been a happy day for other countries in the region either, with Iran beating Hong Kong 3-1, Malaysia getting crushed by the Emirates 4-0 and Singapore losing 0-4 against the proud Palestinian team.

The Arab teams have been taking the lead in the Asian Qualifiers up to now and the teams that make it to the final stage will compete in Qatar next year for a chance to win the most prestigious world’s football competition.
