ASEAN Member States Support Cambodia’s Plans for 2023 SEA Games

SIEM REAP: The Cambodian South East Asian Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) held the South East Asian Games Federation Council (SEAGF-Council) Meeting in hybrid format in Siem Reap from 8-10 April.

The three-day meeting was attended physically by delegates from Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Laos, while delegates from Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei and Timor-Leste joined via online video conference. The delegates discussed what progress Cambodia has made so far in preparing to host the 2023 SEA Games, as well as any challenges that may have been encountered.

The Secretary General of CAMSOC, Vath Chamroeun, has stated that the ASEAN member states showed support for the different kinds of sports and other plans proposed by Cambodia for the 32nd SEA Games.

The official opening ceremony for the meeting also took place on Sunday, 10 April, under the presidency of the Minister of National Defense and President of CAMSOC, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh.

Cambodia proposes some 40 different sports categories for the SEA Games in 2023.
