Snowboarding Records Broken In Women's Triples All In One Day

INTERNATIONAL: Japanese snowboarder Reira Iwabuchi landed the world’s first front side triple 1260 by a woman at an event in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, this week.

She was shortly followed into the record books by Canadian Laurie Blouin, who landed the second-ever women’s cab triple 1260.

Alongside Austrian Anna Gasser, Iwabuchi and Blouin are the only women to have landed a triple jump of any kind in competition.

Iwabuchi and Blouin's feats took place at The Nines ski and snowboard progression session in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.

20-year-old Japanese rider, Iwabuchi, a multiple X Games medalist in Big Air, first tried the front triple 12 at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, but wasn’t able to land it there.

“Ever since Anna did her cab triple I knew I had to do a triple,” Iwabuchi said. “After I came so close at the Olympics, I really wanted to try again at The Nines.”
