Davis A 16-Year-Old Wins Augusta National Women's Amateur Golf

INTERNATIONAL: Teenager Anna Davis won the Augusta National Women's Amateur golf tournament on Saturday 2ND April.

The 16-year-old high school sophomore from California, who was part of the Junior Solheim Cup and Junior Ryder Cup teams, ended the final round with a 3 under 69, meaning she finished at 1 under 215.

Davis finished ahead of Latanna Stone who had looked certain to win but fell short on the final two holes at the Augusta National Golf Club.

The LSU junior had a two-shot lead with two holes to play after her sixth birdie of the round on the 16th, but she three-putted for a double bogey on the 17th and then missed the 15-foot parr putt on the 18th that would have forced a playoff.

Ingrid Lindblad joined her LSU teammate in a tie for second after securing the best final round with a 4-under 68.

Florida State's Beatrice Wallin who was tied with Stone at the start of the final round went on to tie for fourth with a 73, alongside Benedetta Moresco (71) and Amari Avery (72).
