CAMSOC Expert Committee Prepares for SEA Sports Council Meeting in Siem Reap

PHNOM PENH: The Secretary General of the National Organizing Committee of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023 (CAMSOC), Vath Chamroeun, chaired a meeting on Thursday (31 March) to prepare for the 8th Southeast Asian Sports Council Meeting to be held on 8-10 April 2022 in Siem Reap.

The Secretary General said that the meeting of the Council of Southeast Asian Games will be chaired by the Minister of National Defense and Chairman of the CAMSOC National Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh. He added that the Thursday meeting was also co-chaired by DPM Tea Banh.

He said he informed the Women and Sports Committee, Outreach and Information Committee, Sports Medicine Committee to better prepare for the meeting of the Southeast Asian Sports Council on 8-10 April, so that these specialized committees can be used as mechanisms, wherein these expert committees have a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Southeast Asian Games Council meeting and will report to the SEA Council for further support and consensus from all countries in Southeast Asia.

Secretary General Vath Chamroeun also expressed the readiness of the media team to produce good advertisements, especially those in accordance with the high recommendations of Prime Minister Hun Sen, the national media, television and all other media, to promote the 2023 SEA Games widely across the country and abroad.

The topic of medicine and sports is also important in the Southeast Asian Sports Council meeting, to promote the healthcare of delegates and the discouraged use of banned performance enhancing substances ("doping"). Anyone who uses a drug that violates the "doping" principle will be severely punished. At the same time, measures to prevent Covid-19 were also introduced, to ensure that Cambodia can host the event safely and with the support of other Southeast Asian countries.
