Cambodian-Chinese Armed Forces Sign MoU to Strengthen Cooperation and Long-term Relations

PHNOM PENH: Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Army, Lieutenant General Hun Manet, signed a joint statement with the Commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Ground Force, General Liu Zhenli, on Thursday, 31 March.

The signed MoU between Cambodia and China, aims to strengthen the long-term cooperation and close relationship between the two armies on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

In a statement issued on Thursday, 31 March, the Royal Cambodian Army stated, “This document is an important step in paving the way for further cooperation in key areas. This event can be considered a turning point in the history of relations between the two armies."

During the signing ceremony, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet and Lt. Gen. Liu Zhenli expressed their pride in the friendly relations, mutual trust, mutual respect, as well as the continued close cooperation in all fields, between the two countries and peoples of Cambodia and China, which brings mutual benefits, development, and common prosperity based on the comprehensive strategic partnership, the "steel friendship” and community building toward a common destiny between the two countries.

The two sides also stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation between the two armies, which will play an important role in supporting the progress of the comprehensive strategic partnership as well as community building.
