Phnom Penh Declares Two New Orange Zones

Phnom Penh, 3 June 2021: Hours after declaring a two-week extension on the suspension of “high risk businesses”, owing to rising Covid-19 cases, Phnom Penh has declared two new orange zones.

The new zones are: Community AB in Phsar Touch Village, Sangkat Toul Sangke 1 in Russey Keo and Prey Tea Village, Sangkat Choam Chao 3 in Pou Senchey.

The orange zones are in effect from today through 9 June 2021.

Residents of orange zones are prohibited from leaving their homes. They can only travel outside the orange zone if they are essential workers and have the correct letters of permission and identity documents. Essential businesses, such as food stalls, restaurants and pharmacies within the orange zone can remain open. Up to two people per household can buy essential items, but only on three occasions over the next week.

All gatherings are banned in the new orange zones and a curfew is in effect from 8pm to 5am, with the exception of emergency travel, food delivery, travel for government officials and the armed forces.

All other areas of Phnom Penh remain designated as yellow zones, with no curfew, but the city administration has warned of further restrictions if daily Covid case numbers do not start to drop.
