PM Hun Sen and Bun Rany Hun Sen Wish Khmer Muslims Good Luck During Ramadan

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen sent a message on his Facebook page to congratulate and wishing good luck to the Cambodian Muslims in Cambodia, as well as Muslims around the world on the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

The holy month of Ramadan begins on the on 1st April and ends the 30th April 2022.

Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote: "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Cambodian Muslims who have participated in maintaining peace and have believed in my leadership and the Cambodian People's Party from the beginning, together with the Cambodian people."

At the same time, he also asked for forgiveness from the Khmer Muslims that the 7th, 8th and 9th National Ramadan Meeting in 2022 was suspended due to Covid-19 crisis, but the Royal Government allowed the worship at the mosque, religious reunions, together with other programs and requests to increase the implementation of the circular on how to prevent Covid-19, as well as the instructions of the director of the Supreme Council of Islam in Cambodia according to the principles of the Royal Government.

Prime Minister reminded all Muslims not to forget and neglect with Covid-19 disease, but to jointly protect it by following the (3 do’s and 3 don’ts) and everyone to be vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccine.

Ramadan is the annual holy month of Islamic culture. Muslims believe that it is during this sacred month that Allah gives the first chapter of the Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad. During Ramadan, Muslims fast and drink water from morning until sunset, gather to worship and offer prayers at mosques, make gifts to each other, visit and apologize (their past mistakes) to the villagers.
