PM Happy With The Tax revenue Collected

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen praised the Director General of the General Department of Taxation, Mr. Kong Vibol and all officials of the General Department for their excellent tax collection work in 2021, which collected more than 124.02 percent of the plan. He considers that this is the history of tax collection that the General Department has achieved.

In a letter sent to the General Department of Taxation dated 24 March 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the tax collection received in 2021 shows the leadership that adheres to the principles of good governance as well as the willingness of the leadership of the General Department of Taxation. He said that the tax collection in excess of the plan shows the strength of the economy, the strength of Cambodia's independence and sovereignty.

In the letter, he wrote: "Indeed, the internal tax revenue collected by the General Department in excess of the above plan really reflects the strength of the national economy, despite the difficult circumstances that Cambodia has been facing the Covid-19 crisis epidemic and clearly demonstrates the strength of Cambodia's independence and national sovereignty.”

Prime Minister announced his support for the measures taken by the General Department of Taxation to increase the efficiency and transparency of revenue collection.

Tax revenue in 2021, the General Department of Taxation collected more than 2,700 million US dollars, while the financial plan for 2021 is set at more than 2,200 million US dollars. This means that the General Department of Taxation in 2021 collected more than $ 500 million in excess tax.
