INTERNATIONAL: U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived on Saturday ,March 26, to Israel, who will host the historic summit. Blinken will attend an Israeli-Arab summit during a visit also likely to be dominated by discussions about the Iran nuclear talks and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The event, known as the Negev Summit, will take place Sunday and Monday in Kibbutz Sde Boker, a luxury hotel in the southern desert farm which was the home and is also the burial place of Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion.
Israel will for the first time in its history host four Arab foreign ministers, in an event that highlights Israel's new role as a public diplomatic player in the Middle East and will include the participation of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Blinken has met Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Sunday , March 27, the U.S. State Department has said. Bennett has been trying to mediate an end to the month-old Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid's office has said he would convene Blinken and counterparts from United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Egypt for an "historic meeting" on Sunday and Monday March 28.
Blinken is set to visit the West Bank, Morocco and Algeria in a trip that will also focus on Iran and regional security matters.
The said summit is considered a "historic summit.”
