PM Hun Sen: Appointing Officials Does Not Concern Age, But Whether They Can Do the Job

KAMPONG SPEU: Prime Minister Hun Sen has said that being appointed as a government official does not concern the matter of age, but is rather based on the individual’s capability to do the job. On this matter, the Prime Minister cited how Cambodia used to have the youngest Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of National Road No. 51 on Friday, 25 March 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen said, "Assigning officials to a job does not need to concern age because in Cambodia there used to be a 27-year-old foreign minister, who then become a 32-year-old Prime Minister."

The Prime Minister continued that children may have knowledge but will still lack experience, and older people will have experience, but may lack knowledge. He concluded by saying that both the old and young must not be underestimated, and elders can provide the young generation with their work experience.
