Cambodian Border Authorities Meet with Thai Authorities to Strengthen Cooperation in Addressing Crime

BANTEAY MEANCHEY: Cambodian border authorities in Banteay Meanchey province, led by the Commander of the 815th Border Guard Battalion, Lt. Col. Suong Sao, met with Thai soldiers in the 1305th Squadron, led by Brigadier General Sorath Yuan Mu, at the border within Thai territory at Khut Hin village, Khlong Nam Sai commune, Aranya district, Sa Kaeo province, in front of Banteay II village, O'Sampor commune, Malai district, Banteay Meanchey province, on Monday afternoon (21 March).

Colonel Suong Sao said that the meeting was held to strengthen the bonds of solidarity, cooperation and communication between the two countries, and both sides pledged to jointly prevent border crimes (including economic crimes, drug trafficking crimes, cross-border crimes and illegal migrant workers).

On 1 March 2022, at the inauguration of the Poipet International Gate (Cambodia-Thailand), the Minister of Interior, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng, urged the special border provinces of Cambodia and Thailand to continue their cooperation to further improve the relationship between the two countries to increase the necessary labor relations by tightening the prevention of illegal border crossings, especially of drugs, with all relevant authorities controlling and examining this issue very carefully.
