New Zealand To Provide Ukraine With Non-Lethal Military Assistance

INTERNATIONAL: New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Arden has pledged an additional NZ$5 milliondollars, $3.46 million USD to support Ukraine as they continue with the defence of their homeland. This will include a contribution to the NATO Trust Fund to provide immediate non-lethal military assistance, such as much-needed fuel, military rations, communications and military first aid kits. This brings NZ’s total assistance to Ukraine to NZ$11 million.

The New Zealand Defence Force will provide tactical equipment such as body armour, helmets and vests that are surplus to requirements, Ardern has added.

Arden has mentioned that New Zealand considers what is happening in Ukraine as a massive disruption to the international rules-based order and because of that, it impacts nations and that's why she has said, they have taken these extraordinary measures.

New Zealand has also imposed sanctions on Russia and arranged a special visa for Ukrainians with New Zealand connections, as Ukraine battles Russian forces that invaded on February 24. Russia calls its action in Ukraine a "special operation".
