Vietnam Interested in Cambodia’s Progress in Hosting 2023 SEA Games

PHNOM PENH: The host of the 31st SEA Games in 2022, Vietnam, has expressed interest in Cambodia's progress in preparing to host the 32nd SEA Games in 2023.

After leading the Cambodian sports delegation, they returned from attending the meeting of the Chiefs of Mission of 11 countries of Southeast Asia in preparation for the 31st SEA Games to be held in Hanoi and inspected the stadium and stadium.

The Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and Secretary General of the National Committee of CAMSOC, Vath Chamroeun, led a Cambodian sports delegation on 20 March to attend the meeting of the Chiefs of Mission of 11 countries from Southeast Asia in preparation for the 31st SEA Games to be held in Hanoi, and also inspected the stadiums. After returning from this mission, the CAMSOC Secretary-General stated that Vietnam has expressed interest in Cambodia’s progress in preparing to host the SEA Games in 2023. He added that Cambodia is well prepared and faster than Vietnam, because some stadiums in Vietnam are still not ready yet and in the process of decoration and preparation.

The Secretary-General also said that both the Vietnamese and Cambodian sides exchanged views and experiences with each other regarding the building and preparation of the stadiums while visiting, as well as on the preparation of the opening and closing ceremonies.

Under the high guidance of the Minister of National Defense and Chairman of CAMSOC, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh, as well as the Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice President of CAMSOC, Thong Khon, a delegation of Cambodian sports experts, led by Secretary-General Vath Chamroeun, attended the mission meeting in Hanoi, to research and exchanged ideas, and especially gain knowledge on the experience of preparing for the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
