PAWS of War Help Refugees Fleeing Ukraine with Pets

INTERNATIONAL: Volunteers in the Romanian border town of Siret on Sunday ,March 20, helped Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion with their pets.

There are requirements when one travels with a pet and so volunteers in the Romanian border are helping Ukranians. They are also making pet health certificates and passports for four-legged family members, European passports, because most of them want to go further, into Europe, aside from helping the human and their pets with food, crates, blankets, anything that they might need in their future travels,” said activist Kristin Tutunaru who is working with the organisation, Paws of War.

Nearly 3.5 million refugees have fled Ukraine since Russia's invasion and are now camped in temporary accommodation.

Most of the Ukrainians have arrived at border points in Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary, data compiled by the U.N. refugee agency shows, putting pressure on the European Union countries now attempting to shelter them.
