Russia Uses Hypersonic Missiles For First Time to Hit Ukrainian Military Target

INTERNATIONAL: The Russian Defense Ministry has announced on Saturday, March 19, that it had used hypersonic Kinzhal , also known as Dagger missiles to destroy a Ukrainian military target, for the first time in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov has told reporters that a large underground missile and aviation ammunition depot in Ukraine's western Ivano-Frankivsk region was hit by the hypersonic missile system on Friday.

It was the first time that Moscow had deployed the hypersonic Kinzhal system since it started the special military operation in Ukraine on February 24.

Konashenkov has also said Russia had also fired the Bastion coastal missile system to destroy several radio engineering information centers in the Ukrainian port city of Odessa.

According to Russian media outlets, the Kinzhal hypersonic missile, with a maximum range of more than 2,000 kilometers, can fly at exceptionally high speeds, 240 kilometers per hour, and change trajectory and maneuver en route to their final targets.

Separately, a video clip released by the Russian Defense Ministry on its twitter account on Saturday shows that a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage unit was hit by high-precision weapons, and another footage shows a weapons depot of the Ukrainian armed forces was also hit by high-precision missile weapons.
