BREAKING NEWS: Tributes Paid To Former Cambodian Transport Minister

Phnom Penh, 1 June: Cambodia’s Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, Mr. Tram Iv Tek, has died. He had been receiving medical treatment abroad for the past month and passed away this morning. His body was repatriated this afternoon.

In a letter to the late Minister’s wife, Prime Minister Hun Sen says he is “deeply moved” by the news and has hailed Mr. Tram Iv Tek as a “lifelong dignitary”. Together with his own wife, the Prime Minister has expressed his deepest condolences.

Mr. Tram Iv Tek was a former Minister of Public Works and Transport, as well as a former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications. As the Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, he was also the Chairman of the Royal Government Working Group on the Kampong Leng District of Kampong Chhnang Province.

Ahead of his funeral, his body is being kept at his home in Toul Kork, Phnom Penh.

Mr. Tram Iv Tek was 73.
