Indigenous Children Are Rescued After Being Lost for More Than 20 Days in Brazilian Amazon

INTERNATIONAL: After being lost in the Amazon jungle for more than 20 days, Brazilian brothers Gleicon and Glauco were transferred to a children hospital in Manaus on Thursday ,March 17.

The kids, aged seven and nine according to Amazonas State Government, were transported in an aerial intensive car unit provided by the local Health Minister and have arrived in Manaus this morning with severe malnutrition, dehydration and skin abrasions.

260 people were looking for them, and couldn't find them. The Military Police, Civil Police, Fire Department and Funai ,National Indian Foundation were there, but everyone couldn't find them,said the father of the children, Claudinor Ribeiro Ferreira.

Ribeiro Ferreira has also explained they were finally found by a man who was cutting wood in the jungle.

Amazonas State Government have said on a written statement the children had been missing since February 18 and were located on Tuesday ,March 15.

Gleicon and Glauco will remain hospitalized and will be treated until they can tolerate a normal diet and gain weight.
