Ministry of Labor Asks 3 Former NagaWorld Employees to Withdraw Their Complaints Before Being Released on Bail

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training said that three former NagaWorld employees may be released on bail soon, but the three individuals will be required to withdraw their complaints at the Court of Appeal first.

In a statement issued on Thursday, 17 March, the Ministry of Labor stated that that three former NagaWorld employees – Chuob Channath, Seng Vannarith and Sao Sambath – wrote a letter to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training requesting the legal intervention for them to be temporarily released from jail so they would be able to participate in negotiations, to find a solution and end the ongoing labor dispute.

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has made many efforts to continue mediating the NagaWorld labor dispute, and in response to the above received letter from the former NagaWorld employees, the Ministry wrote a letter to the Ministry of Justice (copied forward to the Ministry of Health), and the Ministry of Justice also wrote a letter to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in accordance with legal procedures, to see the process for the NagaWorld employees to be released from jail, with the condition that they withdraw their complaints at the Court of Appeal. However, the lawyers of the three former employees have been slow to withdraw their appeals, "which has hampered the legal process."

In order to be able to follow the proper legal procedure for temporary release on bail, the three former employees and their lawyers must first cooperate and withdraw their complaint at the Court of Appeal. On Thursday morning, the three former employees went to request the withdrawal of their complaint at the Court of Appeal.

Following these legal procedures, the Ministry expects the three former employees to be released on bail soon.
