PM: Cambodia Is a Poor Country, But More Than 92% of the Population Has Been Vaccinated

PREY VENG: Prime Minister Hun Sen remarked that despite Cambodia being a poor country, more than 92% of the total population has already been vaccinated. This is a testament to Cambodia’s great development, as in the past, many would comment on the country’s weak healthcare system.

The Prime Minister made this remark while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the SOS Children's Village in Prey Veng Province on Thursday, 17 March. He added that countries that boast about having a strong healthcare system should not look down on countries that have weak healthcare systems, because Cambodia is an example of a country that has been able to vaccinate in large numbers despite being a poor country that has a supposed weak healthcare system.

He also mentioned that Cambodia has decided to remove the requirement for foreign travelers to show a negative PCR test result from 72 hours before arriving in Cambodia, as well as the requirement to take a rapid test upon arrival in the country. Additionally, Cambodia is reopening the Visa on Arrival scheme for international travelers.

He also took this time to remind people to continue implementing the ‘3 Dos and 3 Don’ts’ consistently to ensure a safe society.
