Prime Minister Hun Sen To Attend The Virtual Climate Summit (Video Inside)

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen will take part in the 2nd P4G Summit on May 31, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said, noting that the head of the government’s appearance comes at the invitation of South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

The event will be hosted virtually in Seoul on May 30-31 under the theme “Inclusive Green Recovery towards Carbon Neutrality”.

The P4G, or Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030, is a global initiative launched in 2017 to serve as a multilateral forum for governments, businesses, and civil society to pool resources and generate innovative solutions that respond to climate change and make inroads towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The ministry said the Prime Minister “will deliver a substantive statement on the topic of ‘Inclusive Green Recovery from Covid-19’ at the Leaders’ Dialogue Session, which will focus on the need to adjust policies and resources to successfully overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, negative impacts of climate change on security and socio-economic development”, among other themes.

Samdech Hun Sen will also attest to the urgency of a green path to recovery for sustained socio-economic growth and impart “insightful and practical recommendations” with the summit for resilient and sustainable development in a post-Covid world, it added.
