Ministry of Public Works Prepares Groundbreaking Ceremony for Bridge Across Mekong River

KRATIE: Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Lim Sidenin, presided over a meeting with the representatives of Shanghai Construction Group (SCG), Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd., and other relevant officials, on Monday, 28 November 2022, to discuss preparations for the construction of a bridge across the Mekong River in Kratie province, along with a 33.45 km long road connecting to the bridge.

During the meeting, the Secretary of State discussed finding a suitable location for the groundbreaking ceremony of the bridge that will connect National Road 7 to National Road 60B between Kratie City and Prek Prosop District in Kratie Province.

The bridge is planned to be 1,761 meters long and 13.5 meters wide. On the east bank of the bridge will be Bos Leav Leu village, Bos Leav commune, Chetr Borei district. On the west bank of the bridge will be Prek Prolong village, Sop commune, Prek Prosop district. As for connecting roads, there is a 15.49-km-long road connecting to the bridge and a 16.20-km-long road within Kratie City.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the infrastructure projects are expected to cost US $111.98 million, and are financed by China. Construction is expected to take about 42 months and will be conducted by Shanghai Construction Group (SCG), with quality oversight provided by Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd.
