CAMSOC Chairman Proud to See Kun Khmer Included in This Year’s SEA Games

PHNOM PENH: Chairman of the National Organizing Committee for the 32nd SEA Games (CAMSOC), DPM Tea Banh, said that he was very proud to have Cambodian martial art Kun Khmer officially recognized in the Southeast Asian Games.

Speaking in a press conference following the Kun Khmer Competition on May 11, 2023, DPM Tea Banh said that before this recognition, there was controversy on the validity of the sport. He had to work had to prove Kun Khmer’s potential internationally.

He stated that the SEA Sports Council’s incorporation of Kun Khmer into its charter legitimizes the sport and will allow its athletes to compete in a broader arena.

"From now on, athletes will be able to compete in our Kun Khmer in all regions, which is what we have longed for,” he said.

The Kun Khmer SEA Games competition ended on May 11, during which Cambodia brought home 14 gold medals from boxers Prum Samnang, Chut Van Thong, Khun Lang Kosin, Khun Bora, Tith Sophoan, Lao Chetra and Touch Chanvotey. Meanwhile Meuy Seung and Toun Srey Phin garnered silver medals in the sport.
