Techo Takhmao International Airport Opening Set for Mid-2024

PHNOM PENH: A spokesperson for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) said that the new Techo Takhmao International Airport is almost 50% complete as of 31 March 2023. Its official opening is scheduled for mid-2024.

SSCA spokesperson Sin Chanseryvutha told EAC NEWS that the airport, a joint venture between the SSCA and private investment firm OCIC, is 46%complete and will cost $652 million USD.

Construction of the airport began in 2019 and phase one is scheduled to be completed in 2024-a total construction period of 46 months (4 years).

He added that the 13.5km connecting road from Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd to the Techo Airport is 38% complete.

The Techo Takhmao International Airport will be a Class 4F, large-scale international airport with 22 gates, which can accommodate about 13 to 15 million passengers and about 175,000 tons of air freight per year.
